For as long as I can remember I've merged a love of building with my addiction to everything small. Instead of buying Barbie's Dream House, I built Barbie and her friend a two story efficiency loft with open floor plan kitchen and roof deck. If I'd known how popular that plan was going to be fifteen years later I think I would've submitted it to an architecture competition. Although the finished project looked great, in hindsight, the crayola rendering was a bit difficult to follow.
I am still enamored with small spaces. My husband, 60 lb. dog and myself live in approximately 200 s.f. with a community bathroom and kitchen. We share a house with my mom and step-dad. While this is not a permanent arrangement for any of us, my husband and I have become very accustomed to functional living.
This blog will address different small space living ideas, both structure and interior function of home, along with casual ideas on how to live simpler.
